Helping the Food Insecure Around the Globe – One Meal at a Time

Food insecurity isn’t something any person or family should have to face

For tens of millions of people in America, a daily meal isn’t a choice between which restaurant to eat at. It’s a choice between food and other critical needs – like housing, medicine, or childcare.

CapRelo and its enterprise partners launched the JK Community Farm in 2018 to help those struggling with food insecurity, including children, senior citizens, families, and individuals. The 150-acre Community Farm is a non-profit that grows organic fruit, vegetables, and protein without chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, and features examples of sustainable agriculture, like a compost system, rainwater harvesting, and drip irrigation.

In 2020 the Community Farm donated over 147,000 pounds of fresh food to area food banks and pantries.

Facts About Hunger (Feeding America)

  • As the U.S. begins to reopen after a tumultuous year, the hunger crisis is far from over. With millions of people facing unemployment, the need for food has only intensified, and families struggle to pay bills for other life necessities—such as housing, childcare, and medical care.

  • Forced to choose between food and other crucial needs, tens of millions of people in America are paying to live life by sacrificing food.

  • The Feeding America network will continue to support our neighbors devastated by the pandemic, especially communities that are disproportionately impacted by hunger.

The Farm serves as a model – and can mentor other farms – on how you can impact your community directly. Globally or locally, together we can fight food insecurity – donate today!
