In early 2025, the U.S. housing market is experiencing its slowest pace since early 2020. Homes under contract now spend an average of 54 days on the market, a duration not seen in nearly five years.
The current administration is considering revoking a temporary rule from 2022, which was made permanent in December 2024, that extended the automatic renewal period for work permits from 180 to 540 days.
